Re: Anybody use remote starters?

I had the dealer install the Gold unit on my 2003 f150 supercrew 4x4 and after I got it. The unit price was $300 but the labor was high for the install, but well worth it . The range on it is real nice (better then the org remote)and it works through walls and metal places. Inside Wal mart I have no trouble getting my rig started parked way out in the parking lot. The dealer learned a lot on putting my system on for it was the first time they had installed one. It works with your computer system on your truck, so a dealer needs too install it. The Goldl unit has the best warranty.I think they have changed the units now with a new one, buy today and they come out newer one the next day.But I like my system and if I get a new truck later on it will have one on it too( without the alarm).I can leave the rig running pull the keys out and go in a store if I want too. Hope this helps you on what to get. NOTE the gold unit has alarm on it, so if you have key pad it will go off when you use it. Order the one below it and it is remote start only but you have one remote for locking, unlocking and remote start

Order the Silver unit and it is remote start only but you have one remote for locking, unlocking and remote start. The anti theft system is still on line useing the the Ford system.

I have a Clifford RSX 3.5 remote starter with alarm. My installer said the same thing as Sycoholic about the unreliabilty of the bypass module. I went with the spare key wired in approach.

Cool feature of the Clifford is the 2-way remote that gives you feedback that the vehicle did in fact start. Also, sounds alarm on the remote if any of the security zones have been compromised.

13 Apr 04 @ 40781 - Installed FoMoCo Vehicle Security and Remote Start System and Electric Tailgate Lock . . . had a local Ford dealer install it . . . right around $500.00 . . . Ford warranty!

After two week it would not let the truck keep running . . . 20 minute adjustment . . . no trouble since . . . would do it again.

hey swampview,

what model unit did you install. Do you remember the breakdown for parts/labor? I'm in the Phila area & looking to put one in my 05 Lariat...

Thanks,
