i want to get my truck's 5.0 (100,000 miles) rebuilt soon. the engine still runs good, and only burns about half a quart of oil every 4000 miles, but im planning some minor performance mods later and i want to have it rebuilt before anything. what is a decent price for an engine rebuild? those of you that have paid a shop to do it, how much did they charge you? thanks a lot!!!

 

Don't know about the rebuild price but i remember you saying weeks ago that you were interested in putting a carburated engine into your truck (at least i think it was you). I just picked up a carburated 351W and c4 tranny to build up and swap into my 1992 F-150. Looks like i may even get away with using the same tranny mounts, i'm not sure about the engine mounts yet though. I'll let you know how it turns out.

sounds like a sweet project! if i decide to go with the engine swap, thats exactly what im gonna do. but if not, then im just gonna rebuild my engine and add the edelbrock power package to it. let me know how it all turns out, good luck with it!
