Valvoline Max Life Oil
Has anyone used this yet? It's intended for high mileage engines and just came out 1-1-2000. It's about $.30 a quart higher than conventional Castrol, Valvoline, etc. at the discount stores. I contacted Valvoline for information and they indicated it has the same base oil as their other conventionals but a different additive package. It's supposed to add elasticity to gaskets and seals and if your engine smokes, it's supposed to reduce that too. I have an '85 Honda Accord beater car with 153,000 miles and worn valves. Whenever it's first started, it leaves a blue cloud, but doesn't use very much oil in spite of that (1 quart or less every 3,000 miles). Bought a case of 10W-30 and changed the oil last week (been using Castrol), so far no smoke. Wondering if anyone else has tried it yet. Seems like a good product.
