Available at any parts store, cost about $10 to $15, not engine specific, need for any newer vehicle.

They work very well...but expect some fuel leakage (keep your face clear). Both the 4.6L and 5.4L use them.

The tool is not engine specific, EVERY vehicle since about the '88 model year uses these fuel line safety locks (many have been retrofitted to older vehicles).

I bought mine at Auto Zone but I have also seen the package at Pep Boys. I'm sure any parts store can fix you up. The tools are round plastic or metal flanges that fit over the gas or A/c lines the release the tabs that hold the line in the filter or a/c fitting. Cost was arount $10.

The package my tool came in said '88 and newer Ford and GM vehicles. My Dad's '85 has a notice from Ford, under the hood, stating it was retrofitted with safety lock lines under a recall.

I didn't know about the clips when I tried to change the filter the first time!!!! $381, and new fuel lines later the mechanic at the Ford dealer sold me an extra one he had for $10. Since then, the Chilton manual is very helpful!!!!
