Question Whats the final word on POWER AID ?

Checked out all the post on poweraid. Seem's everyone lost interest. Has anyone installed one and not heard the whistle noise? Any superchip/poweraid/airboxmod
/dual exhaust trucks getting any benifit just from poweraid install? Does anybody really like this darn thing. Is the red color alone worth the money you pay for it... or do I just have that disease- Money burning a hole in my pocket?

Well I got it and I like it. I would say it gives more torque based on how slow my Truck used to feel when loaded. Now it feels like I'm not carrying a load at all. It will always whistle under load, but you'll forget about it after a while. My husband didn't even notice the whistle!

Couldn't find the right Polished steel design, so once I modify the powercoated ones I just bought, I will paint them.

Q: who wants my "Pocket Mount" chrome ones? Price:cost of shipping, or gas and maybe lunch if you live in S/E MI.

Cap'n buy it here in the Online Store. It helps to support this site.
The service is great, and I like to buy stuff at stores where the owner cares!

CA, well I put it in my 4.6L and it does seem to help with the torque and throttle response. However, I could do with out the noise, but as ATST said you get used to it. The truck can now pull the small hills without down shifting and when I stomp she romps, especially above 25K RMP's. I wonder if the noise will diminish when the weather warms up? Any hoo the color matches my truck, dark toreado red.

Question

Anyone have any installation notes?

How complicated is the install? How much time?

Thanks

Sorry professors of the message forum, I meant to say 2500 RMP’s.

Spyder207, the install was easy about 30 min. to complete.

Question

I am confused you put k&n air filters to smooth the air flow than you put this spacer in that spins the air ? Racer's have used spacer's for years. I would like to see the power on a dyno, I think that a spacer would do the same thing .TO me (opnion) it sounds like a gimmic You read ads that says smooth air pass'e more easily into the intake now you put this things on there that spins the air , On a carb motor it might help mix fule and air but with the injectors i don't see the benifit does any one have a dyno shhet from there truck befor and after??? or one from the manf??

It is where the air is smooth and where the air is not that makes the difference

Just show me some indepentant dyno sheets and then i would beleive it, untill then i think it's just a gimmic. they seel all kinds of stuuf like the tornado air cleaner that swirls the air. Is any one air a expert on the combustion design of these engines? I am not and i wont believe reports that conterdict themselves. I.e. k&N verse this air raid thing, I have a race car i have a spacer plate it works but it only helps on the higher rpms and it was only a smal increase at that and that was at the race track. this wasn't an attack on people who bought it, if you like it great .

Steve g,

It's all about volumetric efficiency, tumble Vs swirl and compression ratios. Swirl is believed to help the lower compression ratios and tumble tends to help the higher compression ratios 12:1 and up (i.e. race engines). Swirl does come at a price it spends some of the energy associated with the charge. Think of a sink full of water and when you pull the drain what does the water do?(swirl) Think of water coming out of the end of a garden hose what does it do?(tumble) Each application is different you don't believe it don't buy it, that's the bottom line.

Hey Darin,

I honestly don’t believe this thing helps in raw HP, but it does improve throttle responsiveness, which in my opinion is lacking in the 4.6L. You ask a valid question how much of the swirl is diminished by the time it reaches the cylinder, I don’t know but it does seem to have an improved effect on responsiveness.
