Thumbs up

F150Sport,

Thanks for the help! Looks like we have the same truck except for the color! Did this make a big difference to your truck?

Sounds like this is common with both the 4.6L and 5.4L engines.

My 98 F-150 (5.4L) at idle would shake the arm rest..but seemed to run/idle OK to me. So far, the new truck idles MUCH better, no shake at all in the arm rest.

PaulT,
Went to check the signal at the TPS yesterday and measured hardly any signal on the MIDDLE wire of the sensor like the procedure says.
Although I read 1.034 VDC at the top wire. Wasn't sure what was going on so I didn't mess with the TPS setting.

That is exactly the post I would have posted, had I returned in a timely manner...
busy, busy, busy....Perhaps the sensor on the newer trucks is a little different...I would try adjusting the settings, but record where you started from, in case you need to return everything to it's original spot.
My original setting was 1.40 VDC from the factory I believe, so my adjustment was needed.

Maybe your problem

Anyone else with this problem?
Alright so I drive a 2003 chevy tahoe, but my brother drives a 99 4.6l and he had this same issue, we switched trucks so I could take a look and I quickly found the issue with his. The hose connected to the pcv had a decent sized hole in it where it connects to the back of the manifold, I'm waiting to do the actual repairs, but I wrapped some tape around the hose as a temporary fix and with that done the trucks runs and idles normal. If you haven't foind and fixed yours yet I can post a picture of which hose it is I found a hole in

Do you realize that the post you quoted was made in 1999? I understand that you would like to help, and that's encouraged, but could you please stick to current issues?

The hole in the PCV elbow is a common issue on these trucks, and will quite often trip a CEL with lean codes.
