Installed the Velocity tube today! Total time: 70 min. Thanks to prev. posts I knew what to watch for and had some soapy water for reconnecting sensors ect. also clamped both ends of the short rubber hose as they do not line up very well. I already had a K&N and had done the silencer removal from the stock elbow so as for performance an sound this seems about the same. I do however, think the Velocity Tube looks much cooler, and will deliver a smoother flow of air than the stock elbow without the silencer. I have a 5.4 engine and I still had to use the spacer for the throttle body though. My truck is a '98, do the '99 and 2000 model 5.4's have a larger TB?

Hey guys-I'm glad to see you are having better luck than me.I paid to have my velocity tube overnighted so it would be here before christmas, only to find out parts were missing. Both the grommets for the air temp sensor and the air tube were left out.I found this out after installing the velocity tube. There was no parts list so I thought everything was there. This was saturday. So I called them (4)times today and left messages -none were returned. Also the air tube welded to the velocity tube is welded on pretty crappy-and in the wrong location. The thing just doesn't look very thought out or professional in my opinion. No wonder it is under a $100.Seriously considering returning for refund-and it better include shipping if I do.

KnightS........Well dont be afraid to call them up and talk to Shannon. He was EXTREMLY helpfull and he will listen to your problem. Iam quite satisfied with the WMS Velocity tube and think you should give them a chance to correct the problem.

I too am satisfied. I also noticed the splashy weld job but the weld itself was solid. when installed it's not that noticable. My main concern is that it performs as advertised. I believe it does this IMHO.

I received my Velocity Tube on the 28th(Tues.) installed it later that afternoon. I had some problems at first with it not lining up with the stock hoses at the Throddle Body( right side)I even called WMS about this. Which they told me that they have had problems with this.At first they were going to send me a new tube, but after the call I went to Auto Zone bought 3/4,5/8 hoses & clamps which maded a big inprovement in the installing of the Tube. The hoses I maded worked a lot better. Plus, WMS also told me that the intake box (black) really isn`t needed anyway, that you could replace the box with a hose or tube. This may help someone else if they have the same problems that I had.IT L@@KS GOOD& SOUNDS GREAT TOO!!!!!! One thing, WMS forgot to send directions to install the Tube too. I had all the parts to install , but the extra hoses I needed to finish the job. I hope this helps others in the installing of The Velocity Tube .

Well, I finally got in touch with WMS through emails. They sent me out the two missing grommets and a piece of heater hose with two hose clamps.Had it all back on in about 20 minutes(had all connectors on the velocity tube, just had to attach it to the throttle body and air box).I too had to use the adapter on the throttle body, so I guess the 5.4L and the 4.6L use the same size throttle body. Took the truck up the interstate to make sure it had time to warm up and then got on it at places where I usually do.Can't say it felt any better. If nothing else, it seems to have lost some kick. Usually when the tranny drops down it revs and pulls hard. But now there is no pull, and it gradually picks up speed. When I got home I checked all the connections and they were tight. I also sprayed a little soapy water around the sealing areas and didn't see any leaks. This thing looks better under the hood(but who's going to see under there anyway?), but I can't say it is a performance improving part.

All in all, I believe that the performance we gain is all relative to how much we THINK we gain.If we REALLY want a part to make a difference, then in our mind it did. I put it on not expecting anything-and that's what I got.

I have a '97 extended cab, flareside with the 5.4L, 3.55LS.Mods were a Flowmaster 40 series catback with duals at the bumper,K$N, and a Hypertech chip. Now the WMS Velocity Tube.Your results may vary, but I doubt it. Maybe what I need is a SUPERCHIPS chip!

KnightS common now, dont be so negative. Did you reset the computer by takeing off the battery cable? I CAN say that my truck "woke up" after my install. I love the sound. Please reset the computer this allows it to re-learn and adapt to the change (about 30 minutes) then take it out and run it hard for a short while. I think you will notice the difference the next time you drive. Thats how I did it any way>

I'm Back! I had a great trip, and just got caught up on all the posts! I'm happy to report the truck did great in the North Carolina mountains! I followed my wife up, she was in her Avalon. She has a pretty heavy foot as well, we averaged 80+ on the highway and when we stopped to top off the tank prior to heading up the windy mountain roads (and more expensive gas) I checked mileage and got 18.2 MPG! I was pretty excited seeing the truck was loaded (to include 600 lbs of rock over the rear axle)! It did well on the steep windy roads as well. I guess what I notice the most is the lack of constant down shifting that I was experiencing before, and equate this to an increase in power! On my way back today, I topped off the truck after coming off the mountain and still got a good 17.6 MPG! Prior to the Tube, I was getting 17.5 MPG on my straight highway trips to Georgia, and a consistant 16.5 MPG during my daily commute. So, I can say I have definately seen an improvement in the way my truck performs! I hope you all have as good of luck as I have had thus far! Happy New Year!

Cool

Installed my velocity tube this weekend. I love the way it looks, and have felt some improvement. However, I agree with the sucky fit and finish on the T-body end. I had to buy some radiator hose to make it fit. Oh well. I'm going to disassemble it at some point and grind off part of the PCV coupling that sticks into the tube. It's not much, but enough to spoil the air. All things considered, I'm pleased with it.

Finally have attempted to install my velocity tube that I ordered from WMS Racing.

As has been voiced by other F150 members, I experienced many of the same problems with installing the tube. The welded bead on the small air breather tube was flawed, I had to have it re-welded to close an air gap. Subsequently, the finish was ruined from the heat of the torch, so I purchased some high heat aluminum paint and refinished the tube with it.

I was unable to install the tube because it arrived with no rubber grommets. The welded tube and hole are configured in a horizontal manner on the tube, which do not match up with my vertically positioned IAC and breather tubes.

However, after one phone call to WMS Racing, they listened to my concerns, apologized for the difficulties that I was having with the tube. They're sending the missing parts (grommets, heater hose and clamps) via UPS, and crediting me back for the original shipping charges on the tube.

So, here I am, awaiting the arrival of the missing parts. At least they are shipping them out today, should have them in a couple of days. Gives me time to put another coat of paint on the tube ;-)

It's a little early to pass on a recommendation for this product, but at least I can report that WMS racing customer service is responsive to the problem.

It seems that I've really involved myself more in this modification to my truck then I originally had anticipated- a very true modification indeed......by modifying the modified part...

-kindest regards
