Post What Were the Changes between 95 and 96?

I have noticed when looking for aftermarket products for my newly purchased 96 4.9L, That most products list the parts for 95 and backward for the F-150's and Broncos. What specificly did Ford change between 95 and 96. I Bought the Truck B/C it was the last year they made the 4.9, and I wanted something that I KNEW would last A long time (Last truck was 86 4.9 w/ 230K - but lets not start another tread on the whole inline issue :-} ). I have been wanting to put a performace chip in the truck, and I hear everyone chattering about the superchip, but the superchip website lists the years 95 and back, much like plenty of other manufactuers do for the F-150. Whats the scoop?

'96s used OBD II emissions, but everything else was the same (I had a '92 and wife had a '96). Exhaust, etc. was the same. K&N makes an FIPK for this vehicle, too. I miss my '92, it had the 300 c.i.d. six cylinder, too.

Forgive my ignorance, I know that the OBD II was a different diagnostics port, but what specificly did they change about the emissions between OBD 1&2? I guess what I am asking is what kind of extra emissions junk is on my engine?

I was looking through my summit Racing mag, and I noticed that headers for pre-96's have a different ordering number than 96's. My boss has a 96 Eb too with the 302, and his engine, is identical to mine, minus a few things like MA system and etc etc. But I think the manifolds and bolt location where the same?

He's talking about the 4.9L/300 c.i.d. six cylinder, not the 5.0L/302 c.i.d. V8. There are no differences in the '96 version of this engine.

I think you've been looking at superchip.com not http://www.superchips.com

Superchips makes chips for '96 Ford pickups and Gibson makes exhaust systems for '96s as well. Superchip only lists applications through '95, could be your problem.
