2004 5.4 into a 2001 4.6 5 speed swap

Is a 2004 5.4, (now automatic), into a 2001 now 4.6 5 speed an easy swap The 2004 is totaled and the 2001 is in VG condition.
Thanks,
Mike

Is the 2004 a Heritage (2 valve) or new body style (3 valve)?

The (2004) Heritage is a 2V, as I understand it.

Yes, and the new body style is a 3v.

Thanks,

One issue is, the manual, that you, I, and others so badly want/wanted, will not handle the power of the 5.4, "reliably." But I'm not sure of the answer. I *suspect* they do not mate.

They will mate if you use a manual transmission flywheel. If it's a 2v, it's a feasible swap, but not necessarily terribly easy:

If it's a 3v, forget it.
