2007 5.4 cylinder 5 misfire

I've been fighting a misfire for quite some time. I had a mild misfire thay wasn't throwing codes but I would feel it often enough to know it was there. It started to happen a lot when i would park at an incline with the front facing up hill. I took it into a guy that looked at it, changed the plugs and said it should be good. Drove it home and as soon as I parked, it started up again. Went back to him for him to look at. After he had it a couple days he said that the timing chain needed to be replaces and he could hear it slapping inside. I went ahead and had him replace the timing chain since I know it tends to be an issue. What I thought was a misfire is now gone when I park on an incline. I'm now having a bad, inconsistent, misfire. Enough that it throws a code for cylinder 5. I first changed out the coil since i didnt have the correct spark plug socket. No change, replaced new coil with the original, put the new up for a rainy day. I then went and bought the correct socket size and pulled the spark plug and it was missing the part that goes over the electrode so I replaced the plug. It was better for a short while until the plug backed out because I failed to torque it down properly. Lesson learned, torque wrench was used, torqued to 25 ftlb. Thought that was the end of it. Nope, misfire on cylinder 5 again.

Before I take it into the shop, is there anything else I should look for? I tried the search function but didn't find anything useful. I'm a novice mechanic at best. I didn't grow up working on things and am learning as i go.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you have to offer.

It could be a bad injector. If the injector is partially plugged and the mixture is lean on that cylinder it could be burning really hot and that could have caused the plug to burn up. A good mechanic could check the injector to see if it is spraying correctly. Or you could switch that injector with another to see if the miss goes with the injector.

I did forget to mention that when I pulled the plug after it had backed out the cylinder did have a lot of gas in it and I could see where gas had been leaking down the side of my engine from the cylinder. Not sure if thet tells anybody anything or not but I should've said so earlier...

You would need an injector testing machine.
