Can I pulll my engine and transmission out of my 2002 F150 2wd and put in a 2007 f150 4wd will it bolt to the transfer case?

Thanks I read I would have to make modifications to the transmission, exchange the rear transmission output shaft as it is shorter. Is this correct? Or is this more complicated?

As I said I have a 2002 Ford F150 2wd with 50000 miles on it the engine which the engine and transmission are excellent, the body is rusting as is the bed. I can purchase a 2007 f150 4wd with a bad 4.2 engine with 150000 miles. the body is without rust or dents..I have read that the 4.6 will not bolt up to the 4.2 bell housing. My sole purpose is to research my possibilities and options thank you for your input.

That is correct - the 4.2 and 4.6 have different bellhousings. There are also major electrical differences between the 4.2 and 4.6, especially across generations. There is also a generation issue with the transmissions. Your proposed swap is pretty much a no-go.

If yours us a 4wd, definitely not. Otherwise, maybe. There are some differences, would probably not be a good idea.

no the truck is 2wd. The F-150 engine would be to much for the Trans? Or would it be more of the ratios?

It may not be the same length, electronics are different, and the shift mechanism is not in the same location.
