Question 5.4 head gasket update

We just found out we have the head gasket leak on out '99 5.4 L. It has 38K on it, but the dealer offered a good will fix, so it is in the shop as we speak.

I did a search and haven't seen any posts in several months. How are those of you who had the gaskets replaced coming along? Any recurrence? Any advice?

Peace, Dennis

I went through 8 coils in 3 months after mine was fixed. Then had a front main seal leak... I now have a new truck, couldn't keep that one out of the shop.

Sorry, know you didn't want to hear that... mine had 30K on it when the gasket blew. 34K when the front main seal went.

Good Luck........

Have them check between 6 and 8 cyl.

My 99 5.4l had oil leak in head gasket and was because of defect in passenger side head that is common in this motor. the dealer was only going to replace the gasket until i brought in a pile of posts for oil leak in 5.4l from 150 online then he rechecked depression and found spot between 6 and 8 cly and replaced motor

I had mine replaced last month on my 99 L at 8500 mi. I begged for a new engine, They would not budge. They installed a new head and head gasket on the passenger side. I went out to my driveway 2 days later and there was oil on the ground, It turns out that the driver side was doing the same thing. The dealer told me it was from the mechanic at Ford didn't torqe down the driver side all the way. Why would he even touch the driver's side? I ask that question and No answer. The problem now is I don't feel or can't tell if ALL of my power is there. Is there any way of knowing? Please let me know.
