Starting issues related to brake sensor?

My 2010 won’t start 90% of the time and it’s related to the brake. I can hit it hard a few times and the the truck starts but not always. I live in Alaska and parts are scarce so I want to pick up whatever I need while I’m near parts stores. I’m thinking it is probably a sensor but looking for advice from anyone that has had this issue. TIA!

Doesn't start - do you mean it's turning over and not firing, or it doesn't even turn over? Which engine - 4.6 2V, 4.6 3V, or 5.4? Have you checked the OBD2 for codes?

4.6 3v turns over but doesn’t start. Hit the brake pedal a few times and it starts.

Sounds more like an F27 issue. The brake thing is probably a red herring. There should not be anything in common between pressing the brake pedal and the operation of the engine on this truck.

2010's dont need the brake to be engaged to start ive never used the brake to start as mine has remote start.. sounds more like a pats (passive anti theft system) lockout / something interfering with the system as my other truck used to have a fm transmitter in close proximity of the column and it would act up but that truck i never hit the brakes either...

the only way i can see something using the brake pedal would be the old style remote starters where when you get in you depress the brake and the remote start will kill the engine using its security and will allow you to restart the truck using the key... and on some other styles you put the key in turn and depress the brake when you do that the remote start module will disable after it beeps twice to say its no longer monitoring and let the truck take full control as alot use the brake to disable the truck if they hop in and attempt to take off with the vehicle as soon as the brake is depressed the system will go into panic and basically lock out the entire truck until the key is inserted and started properly

It cannot be PATS, otherwise it wouldn't crank. The 2010 PATS system includes a starter interrupt.

After a little more research, it sounds like it could be the F 27. The clue was that the starter hangs when trying to start. Literally turn off the key and remove it and it’s still going.
thanks for the help, hopefully replacing the f27 will be the solution.
