Which lash adjuster?

About to do a complete timing, oil pump, vct, roller followers, phasers on my truck 05 F150 5.4 and want to replace the lash adjusters as well. I'm coming up with 2 part numbers though. 3L3Z6500BA and 5L1Z6500A. I go to different Ford dealer websites and I get different part numbers. I heard that one of them in an improved one but don't know which one. Truck was built 8/16/04 and last 8 of vin is 5FA60047. Any help would be appreciated!

The correct part is: 3L3Z6500BA

However the 5L1Z6500A is a later version.

Here's a good read:

Attached is TSB 04-24-24 regarding the change.

Thanks for the info, truck was built 12/04 but hard to tell when the engine was built. I'll check the tab on the valve cover if I can find it. It does sound though that the later one would work. I believe that the warning is don't put the old ones 3L3Z6500ba) in a later built motor.

Ok.

Yes, that is how I am interpreting it.

If I was the SM, and the tech asked me, that is why I would say too.
