has anyone ever had this happen. i have 2009 with 5.4. after running the a/c for about 30 minutes if i slow down or stop at a red light the engine wants to stall out. if you push on the gas it does a loud ticking sound with no power. i end up pulling over shutting engine and ac off. restart the truck no ac this time and it drives fine. any one have an idea on what may cause this. engine has 144k for mileage.

 

I would suspect a problem with the compressor. Also, the idle speed should increase with the compressor on. That might be an issue. I just guessing here. #shadetree mechanic

 

The A/C is getting disabled because you have an underlying issue with the engine's operation, not the other way around.

 

I am having the same issue except its all the time not just when the a/c is active. I have been working on the problem and have been posting updates with what I have tried to do so far to fix the issue. Still waiting on someone who knows exactly what is causing this issue, but until they come along take a look at my thread and maybe there will be something useful in it for you.
