Misfire and lost

Hey guys I’m bout ready to burn this truck after all the issues I’ve been having. the short and what I’m struggling with now is a misfire 06 f150 5.4 3v

Its been a long issue to this point, but all spark plugs are new motorcraft plugs, still getting in miss on 4 as before, so swapped coil 4 and coil 2 to see if it’d follow. My miss is now on 5.... I’m lost after fixing a good many other issues with this truck and having other projects going on, plus being out of work at the moment my patience and budget are about spent.

so have any of you guys had a similar situation where the misfire moved but not to where it supposed to?

I’m even more stumped and angry now, the tuck completely died on my and won’t restart acting like the battery is dead but it’s fine. Before that happened and left me stranded, it had codes for multiple random misfires, misfire on 1, 5,7, also codes for both cam sensors, codes for lean on bank 1 and rich on bank2, and some other random codes that would pop up. I’m done with this tuck, but I can’t afford a newer one, and I can’t afford to guess at what might maybe be.

has something like this happened to anyone else that has an idea what might fix it. Idk what to do

Battery dead? You mean it won't even crank when you hit the key?

You have an electrical issue, multiple random codes like that are sometimes due to a corroded or loose connector on a main harness at the firewall between the engine and cab.

I think the starter is just dying/ dead on top of everything else, when trying to start the voltage drops to about 9v then bounces right back up when I stop trying, and I checked and the starter is getting hot as well. Just issues piling on top of issues

So today I pulled the valve covers to make sure the cams were still in time which they were, not finding any corroded connections, and I cleaned the MAF and throttle body again. It is idling somewhat rough but if I put it in gear it stalls, if I rev the engine it will rev then stall, if I turn on the ac it either stalls or comes real close to it.
the idle seems to be up and down like it’s hunting, but I’m not getting any codes.

Does anyone have any more input

Did you PROPERLY clean the throttle body as per the video I linked? If not, it may be damaged.

I don’t see a link, I think I cleaned it properly, off the vehicle gentle spray and cleaned with a toothbrush and paper towel. Just the inside of the throttle bore.

regardless I guessed at a throttle body, I installed it and waiting for the truck to cool down so I can do the throttle body relearn from a cold start

Water in cylinders? This will cause misfire and slow cranking.
Run it a bit warm with radiator cap off. See if it cranks faster.

I wouldn't kick Ford to the curb over your truck. You have the 5.4 3 valve, which has more than its share of issues. It's not an engine that I'd ever buy. I would buy a 2011-2018 F150 with a 5.0 and 6 speed.

Why not go after the starter problem? Could it be that the engine isn't grounded adequately? Check/clean the battery cables on both ends. Check/clean the other engine grounds or all grounds.
