Long story short, thermostat stuck closed and snapped in half... yeah that had me scratching my head. Replaced upper rad hose, de gas cap and thermostat plus o-ring. Replaced thermostat housing bolts with not broken ones man did that peeve me off, No CEL popped when she overheated so I imagine I hit Step 1 of Fail Safe Cooling, that’s as far as I let it get. Just a heads up for those DIY there is an orientation to the jiggle valve, one side faces radiator while jiggle valve is left horizontal of the intake. If anyone else has this issue I wish you the best of luck I had a s$&t show trying to find information that related directly to my situation.

cleaned throttle body
spark plugs & COPs 3xs over
blend door actuator
resistor
blower motor
the odd fuse
new leaf springs
front brakes cleaned up the rotors
body work to the side because the previous owner had it stolen and whoever stole it wiped out the drivers side all along the box.


I know she’s gonna need more as she ages but I hope I get another year out of my heavy half ton 14 year old beast. I’ve already gotten six .
No modifications I like my trucks stock.

 

I'd suggest doing a cylinder leak down test and a radiator leak down test to see if you are having gasket or radiator/hose or other problems.

I should also add because after re reading the initial post it would lead someone to believe I’m having issues after replacing the Tstat. I haven’t run the truck since she overheated and I’ve been having to go run and buy parts and just finding one thing after another so she’s been parked. I’m at the point where I’m hesitant to sink anymore mullah into her. I replaced the Tstat yesterday broke one of the bolts for the housing and just in general having a field day with the truck. She’s been parked for a week now.
