The old style heads use Motorcraft SP546, the new style heads use Motorcraft SP509. They also use different coils, the old style is Motorcraft DG511, the new style is Motorcraft DG521. Do not use any other brand. Why would you want to lock out the phasers?

The 5.4 3 valve is not an Ecoboost.

i misspoke it is flexfuel as for the lockouts you dont have to worry about them faiking i know several people who have had had phasers replaced even by ford and they failed with low miles on them I dont knw about others but i cant afford to send to shop every littke bit . cant afford to replace vehicel every little bit im driving a 2008 f250 4x4 superduty with 6.4 stripped of regen ,straight piped 385000 miles only thing been done is torque cinverter replaced from towing farm eqoipment and small excavator and skidsteer

Personally, I'd cut the loss on the Expedition, and sell it, and use that money to keep your F250 on the road.

Between the money you'd be saving on insurance, tags, and parts/labor, you'll be able to keep the other vehicle tip top for safety - especially since it sounds like you are towing some serious weight with it.

Bare with me im still learning how to post replys . I misspoke my 2011 expidition is a flexfuel . As for the reason i want to lock out the phsers is to make it as dependable as possable with as few brakedowns as possable , not concerned about a little loss in fuel milage the most revews i read and the one person i know that did it say they like the performance better! I have a couple friends who worked /work for frd who told of horror storys about putting new ones on and premature phaser failure . I I cant afford to take to shop every time somethig breaks . Was diesel mechanic most of my life so do most my own anyway, i drive a 2008 f250 4x4 with 389000mi on it ,6.4 been deleted straight piped regin system removd as soon as warrenty was out only thing doe was turbos replaced and torque converter went out not bad odds for their reputation .. I dont know why ford didnt improve timeing chain guilds and a more bullet proof camphaser in 4.6, /5.4 engines OTHER than they want it to break so they make money on parts . WHERE IS PRIDE IN HOW LONG CAN WE MAKE IT LAST?

proper oil weight, maintenance intervals and oil filter also come into play

the folks that skimp out on these, usually have the failures you're experiencing
