Squealing at idle

Howdy. I have a 2012 with the 5L V8. It has just under 160,000 miles, and it has recently started making a high-pitched squeal while idling. The noise clears with any acceleration, but immediately returns when the engine returns to idle RPM's. I am extremely mechanically-inept, so I need some help. Anyone able to speculate as to what the issue is?

Thanks,
Castlewood

I would have someone who knows what they are doing listen to it. This is not something that can be easily diagnosed in an Internet forum.

However, one thing you should do - go to a parts store and have your battery and alternator load tested. It could be an alternator trying to charge a battery that's on its last legs. Have them look at your drive belt while you are there.

Remove the belt and see if the noise is still there.

Not to be offensive, but I question whether this person is capable of removing and reinstalling the belt.
