Dreaded Cam Phasers

I have an 04 Lariat 5.4l, 109,00 miles, that just got diagnosed with bad cam phasers by a local Firestone. They do not do that work. I don't have the time, or the patience to do that job on my own. Who has a recommended place in the Roseville, Michigan area, and an estimated cost for someone to take care of it for me?

I can't help with your request. But, I would get another opinion first. The firestone stores aren't known for having ace diagnostic techs. And make sure Ford parts are used if the phasers/timing chains are replaced.

Like Roadie I can't help with your request ---- but if I lived within that general area and wanted someone else to do a timing job on mine, I believe I would look to BSG Automotive (the guy with the FordTechMakeULoco channel on YouTube). I understand his shop is in the Chicago area.

Maybe try some 5W40 in it first. My neighbor has an 04 with the 5.4 and he uses that oil in his and it is running well with over 140k miles on it.

I see you are on the east side of MI but it might be worth your while to take it to ford tech makuloco. He says he does about a hundred of these phaser/chain replacements a year.
