engine noise

Hi I just got a 2001 F150 XLT V6. The truck rides fine,
but when the engine warms up there is a ticking noise
only when I come to a stop when the truck is in drive or
reverse. When I drive I can't hear it & when it's in park
I can't hear it. I took it to the dealer, they didn't know
what it was. Does anybody know what it could be or have
the same problem?

ticking noise

I have a '99 f150 V6 and have had that noise the exact same way ( in drive while sitting still ) and on my first oil change I had the dealer do it and they said it was the fuel inject. doing that. Since this is my first fuel inject. engine, I guess they are right. Now I have 51,000 miles on it and still does it and no problems for it. Hope this eases your concern.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the reply Fish_Master. That does make me feel
better. I'll still watch it for right now.

there was a thread about this in the V6 forum... Mine does it, and it's a 2000 w/ 30,000km on it. It sounds like a diesel which screws people up... you just get used to it... however, when you crank the engine, you can hear the air moving, similar to the sound of a turbo Leave it to FORD :P
