Squeal/squawk after start

I have a 2014 F150 with the 5.0L V8. Live in central MS and its extremely hot. I drive it to work in the morning and then it sits all day until I go home.

When i start it in the afternoon, I get an awful squeal/squawk for a second, right after starting. It does it then goes away and that's it. This is the only time it does it. In the morning, when its cooler, its perfectly fine.

I was thinking a belt or fan clutch, but I cant help but think it would do it every time if it was that.

Make sure you turn the A/C off before starting it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Started up this afternoon and no squeal.

That tells us that it was the belt slipping, trying to start the A/C compressor. Might be time to replace the belt and clean all the pulleys.

It's likely the belt got contaminated with oil if you aren't above 100k miles.

OR the automatic tensioner isn't keeping the belt tight enough.

If you are above or even near 100k miles, time for a new belt anyways.
