I’ve got a 03 f150 5.4l 4wd vin L I just reaplaced my fuel injectors spark plugs and coil packs the reason being is because of a cylinder 4 ignition coil misfire so went ahead and done them while fuel rails were disconnected took me a good 5hrs to finish the job after I done triple checked myself of all coils were plugged in and fuel injectors snug air intake hoses connected properly and all the good stuff ya know so went ahead and decided to do the first start up after hesitating for a good 1hr to see what would happen well first start up cranked up ok and went it did made a loud POP will say my truck has straight pipes but weird why it did that so let it idle kept in park and got up to bout 1000 rpm and just didn’t sound right took it for a test drive and performed excellent in my opinion a lot better than before misfire was fixed so o pull into the driveway after a 5min drive its running rough at low rpms and black smoke coming out of exhaust oil coming from somewhere on back passenger side of motor there was oil on transmission and starter so triple checked everything again couldn’t find nothing so I cranked it back up but when I did I had to give it gas to get it started after it started just idled like **** drove it around the neighborhood and was gonna take it on highway but decided to stop and check underneath the hood one last time noticed water was just coming out of resivor but truck said it’s running at good temperature so turned around and went back home squeezed radiator hose was no tension on it at all so I took the cap off of resivor and wasn’t but like 3-5cups of water in there smoke coming out of resivor someone please help never experienced this kinda **** before all happened on Friday the 13th

Test the coolant for hydrocarbons / head gasket leak. These engines with high mileage also tend to develop a head gasket oil leak. The oil passages that feed the cams are close to the edge of the head gasket and sometimes they will leak oil down the side of the block. Something to consider while you are investigating the causes.
