piston slap and engine origin

In an article about piston slap it said:

"Ø If the 8th position in your VIN is a "6" then your 4.6L engine was built in Windsor, Canada
Ø If the 8th position in your VIN is a "W" then your 4.6L engine was built in Romeo, Michigan "

I have a "W" in my VIN, but the sticker says the truck was made in canada.... is that right?

thanks,
sal

That's weird. Counting from the left, the engine code letter designation is the 8th digit, and W=4.6L Romeo V8 and 6=4.6L Windsor V8. W is not Canadian. It doesn't seem to add up does it? Anyone else seen this?

Pretty simple. Engines are made at a different plant and shipped to the truck assembly plant. In these cases, the engine was made at the Romeo engine plant and shipped to the truck assembly plant in Canada for installation in your truck. The place where the truck was assembled has nothing to do with the place the engine originated.
