Piston Slap in my 97 5.4
I think frank s is right. You have to hit them with the M-M Act. I mean actually print the whole thing out, have it leather bound and actually HIT them with it!
BTW consider canceling your extended warranty and get some of your money back.

yh, you can ask the service manager the number and how to get in touch with the rep he has to give you this. The reps go to every dealership often. Or you can call the ford area office. or you can call the 800# in the manual. good luck

I should have just taken the supercharger off before I took it down to have them look at it, but... I just couldn't stand the thought of taking that thing back off after the pain I went through to get it on, and I didn't think the PS problem was a big enough deal to worry about.
I think that now that they've seen it with the SC installed it would be pointless to take it off.

UPDATE
Well, I can't say I'm surprised, but the service manager at the dealership told me he'd try to get back with by Monday regarding whether or not they will try and talk to ESP for me (you know... 5 days ago) and he hasn't returned any of my calls to him this week.
Then, today I go out to check the mail and, what do you know... there's a letter there from Ford Customer Service Division which reads:
"Dear Sir:
This letter is in reference to the Ford Extended Service Plan (ESP) for the above referenced vehicle.
It has been brought to our attention that your vehicle was recently in for repairs at (DEALERSHIP). At the time of service, it was determined that the vehicle had been modified. Please remember that according to the terms of your ESP, any components which otherwise would have been covered under the terms of your ESP contract, that fail due to abuse, modification or lack of maintenance will not be covered by ESP.
In order to maintain your ESP coverage on these particular components, the vehicle must be repaired to factory specifications by a Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer. If you do not have the repairs completed at a Ford of Lincoln-Mercury dealership, ESP coverage on these components will be voided."
You gotta love those ESP guys saying that the documented problem with piston-slap in my 5.4 was caused by the 2 week old supercharger... Boy am I glad the dealer talked me into the ESP coverage (which didn't even cover the #4 coil-over-plug when it shorted out due to a coolant leak). Money well spent eh?

I'm new so I apologize in advance (and regret I may add) that I'm not up on the engine slap messages but thought I'd pass this along ... Had what I think is the same problem with my 6 cyl. and it eventually led to piston and cylinder damage. Ran like it was on 5 cyl intemrittently at cold start. Dealer never could "duplicate". Finally piston shattered and foughtt with dealer over new engine (1 month past warranty)Got new engine but still fighting $600 dollar "pro-rated" charge.
