Shaking and wants to cut off

So after driving for a while my 2005 F-150 4.6 want to shake when I come to a stop light or hit traffic not every time but it cuts off and fires right back up no problem and it’s fine but lastnight it cut off and the check engine light came on and now I’m stuck on what it could be. Trying to get codes now. PLEASE HELP

Read the codes. Very important. Some 2005's got a batch of bad fuel injectors, so be aware. Cleaning the throttle body might be a good idea. The 4.6's are notorious for egr passages getting crudded up I think. Might be a good idea to clean the egr passages out while cleaning the throttle body. But, all of these are wild guesses and may not be what is wrong with your truck.

The shop told me that I was low on oil and I changed myself about a month ago and no oil in my drive way so o don’t know if it’s leaking or I’m getting the run around. But the code I was given was P0022-FF he said something about a solenoid. I don’t know if I can believe it or not.

So, your 4.6 is the 3 valve VCT engine? That code would indicate that it is. You may need new timing chains, phasers, etc. How much noise is it making and when does it make the noise?

Little to no noise at all. Had the oil changed and it seems to be fine. But from the last time I changed the oil Iv only been 700 miles.

The 2005 4.6 is a 2 valve engine. It does not have VCT. You either have a 5.4 or that's a bogus code.

VCT solenoid can be causing this problem, I think the shop is on the right track.

How many quarts of oil did you put in when you changed it? That engine takes 7 quarts. What weight did you use?
