98 f150 engine swap issue

Good evening,

i have a 98 f150 4.6 Romeo that I have swapped with a 98 Lincoln town car 4.6 Romeo. I reusedthe truck transmission. I have the motor in and was in the process of swapping the crank pulley when I found out that I could not turn the crank by hand. I tried turning it over with the starter and it turns real slow and spits back almost like it is out of time. Is there any way to see if it is out of time without pulling the timing chain cover off? The car supposedly only had 89000 miles on it .

You'll have the take the engine apart to check all of it.

I would take the engine back out onto a stand and work on it.

At the end of the day, you might not want it in your truck... hopefully you didn't spend a lot of money on it.
