Fuel pump issues

I have a 09 f150 xlt 5.4 180,xxx here recently i have had the truck not start twice. I changed the fuel pump relay thinking that was it and then today it did it again so I pulled the relay and put it back and it fired right up. Not sure if it is fpdm or fuel pump. HELP!

Do you know for sure there is no fuel pressure when it doesn't start?

no I do not. When it doesn’t start I just pull the relay and put it back and cranks up

Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on? If not, before pulling the relay, turn the key off and back on till you do hear the pump prime.

You won't get codes for this...

I'd do like glc said earlier and check the FPDM for lots of corrosion or cracks.

The 2009 FPDM is a new design, it doesn't have the same corrosion issue, it's solid plastic. However, it could still be bad or the connector could be dirty.
