What does this sound like? I have been told that my engine has a "spark knock" in any event it makes the vehicle sound like a lawnmower or what I would describe is a rolling sound on acceleration. any comments on the way your engine sounds? I have had the mass air flow sensor replaced.

i have had that problem(s) since 10,000 miles i now have 58,000. had it into the dealer 5 documented times, 3 undocumented and they can't (won't) fix it. i've tried everything . just recently the check engine light went on they said the 3rd cylinder is miss firing. don't know why or how to fix it. they cleared out the code and the light went back on a couple days later and its running sporadically good/bad. the knock/slap/whatever is always there. don't mean to scare you maybe its just mine (98 4.6L windsor)but i'd stay on top of it if i were you, don't let em bull**** you!!!!

 

Piston slap is mostly at start-up. It goes away once the engine is warmed up. Your's sounds like pinging or spark knock.
