I highly doubt the plugs caused the shutdown. You probably need to be checking the fuel pressure too. If you haven't changed the fuel filter, now would be a good time. More than likely though once you change the plugs, you're going to have a miss in the engine. You'll be changing the COPs and soon or you can do it now. The O2 sensors should be changed every 80,000 miles. You only need to change the front ones- MOTORCRAFT PARTS ONLY. The PCV should be changed every 50,000 miles, again, MOTORCRAFT ONLY. Make sure to use a di-electric grease on the shanks of the plugs when installing them. NO anti-sieze is used on that engine.

At 115k, the plugs are overdue. Use Motorcraft plugs, no antiseize, torque to 28 ft/lb. I don't see the need to change the coils, but I'd replace the boot and spring kits. Dielectric grease goes on the inside of the boots, not on the plugs. Fuel filter should be changed every 30k. O2's don't need to be changed till a scanner shows them responding sluggishly or gas mileage drops with no other explanation. PCV doesn't need changing these days unless it's gunked up and doesn't rattle when you shake it. Check the FPDM for corrosion.

Yup, like glc said, check the FPDM.
