So my (Untill now) trusty) 2006 f150 5.4 King Ranch has been overall trouble free. Today I lost my tranny and my cam phasers are about to kill the truck. So I want to buy a wreck and do and engine and tranny swap. Can I swap a 09-10 5.4 motor and tranny into my 06? Or a 6.2?

Motor, yes. Almost plug and play. Tranny, not easily. Totally different electronics.

If I have the whole truck I should be able to just swap the tcm with the tranny and it work right?

 

There is no separate TCM, the PCM controls both the engine and transmission. You will need the PCM and wiring harnesses.

It would be a lot easier swap if you can find a late 08 with the revised heads and a 4R75. It has to be the same drive type - 2wd or 4wd.
