Radiator hose pressure

1999 f150---4.6 .....Lariat

My truck is having issues with the pressure building up in the top radiator hose (to the thermostat). THere is no leak, no oil in spark plugs, no smoke (extra) from tailpipe. We flushed it 3 times, until water is clear. THen, we run it, it stays at temp (for 20-25 minutes), but then when driven, it will build pressure in the top hose and then overheat. I would release the pressure (through overflow cap) and it is fine again.
I did change the thermostat and upper hose out, just in case.
Could it be the intake manifold gasket or the head gasket?

The pressure cap is going to release pressure at about 15psig. The system will have the same pressure throughout. You have an overheating problem that is too little coolant, plugged cooling system, bad pressure cap, or a blown head gasket. Check the coolant for hydrocarbons.

Replace the pressure cap.
