Stripped manifold inserts for 7mm COP bolts.
2003 Lariat Crew Cab 4x4 with the 5.4L Triton 2v.
I started my truck the other morning and felt hesitation and juddering/vibration on acceleration and a miss at idle coupled with a flashing check engine light. Upon further inspection I discovered two loose COPs on the passenger side rear of the motor. After looking closer it appears that whoever removed those two COPs last resecured them by cramming a piece of foam rubber under the fuel rail on top of the coil. As it turns, out the bolts are still there but they are seized inside the manifolds brass inserts. The brass insert just spins with the bolt and won’t come out.
Ive has this truck for some time now and I’m ashamed to say I have only just now discovered this issue. Has anyone had something similar to this happen? How did you fix it?
