Block heating: coolant or oil?

It getting cold out again and I'm thinking about adding some sort of engine heating element for those cold morning starts. Ive seen in line coolant heating pumps as well as oil pan heaters. I'm thinking heating the oil makes the most sense as far as engine protection during startup, what do you all recommend?

Coolant. 5W20 oil flows just fine in cold weather. Get a circulating type heater, not a freeze plug replacement.
