The Oil Pressure guage will drop off to almost L(low) or in that area, and the oil light will go on also. This happens completly at random, always when driving. I can be going 30 or 40 and it will just drop off and the light will come on, stay that way for 1 minute sometimes a couple. It happens at 60+ mph, but not as often. My thoughts are that of a problem w/ the comp. and sending unit, and I hope to god it isn't the pump. But this has been happening for a couple months now, and I'm curious to what everybody else thinks it could be.

(For the record the engine runs perfectly normal when this is happening, also when the guage starts to go back up once in a while the neddle will go up and down really fast like it doesn't know what to do.)

It sounds like you have a bad sending unit, if your engine wasn`t getting any oil you would be able to tell by the sound of the engine.

It does sound like a bad sending unit as speeder said. If engine runs fine and needle is crazy more chances than not it's the sending unit, guage itself or the wires that connects them. Try putting a new sending unit on and see if the at doesn't help.
