Ford 5.4 triton 3v v8

Engines completely gone, same thing as usual. I like the truck I wanna replace the engine, but before I do that I wanna see if any other other engines would make a good swap, I'm ok with 5.0 or lower. A friend of mine suggested a hemi, I don't think that's practical though. By the way it's a 2007

P.s the truck sounds like a tractor when it's idling

A remanufactured 5.4 3V is the best way to go. It gets very complicated putting non-oe engines in vehicles these days with all the sensors and computer.

Not trying to be a smartass here, but the OP's question fits squarely into that box that gives the 5.4L such a bad name.

No codes mentioned, no performance issues mentioned, no failures in starting, economy, or mobility mentioned, no drivability problems mentioned. Just sounds when idling and thinking of 'REPLACING' the whole engine - possibly with a 'hemi'.

While I agree with @Roadie, I'd ask - how many miles on the engine? Any codes? Have you checked the oil pressure with an aftermarket gauge? Done a compression check? Any symptoms OTHER than noisy idle? just for starters?
