Dear Runnin99,

If you mean the underdrive pullies for the alternator, crank, etc., yes, for the most part they do work very well. they reduce parasitic power losses caused by driving the accesories via the serpentine drive belt, powered by the engine. reducing this parasitic load will increase rear-wheel horsepower. On most V-8's, they seem to be worth .15 seconds in the 1/4 mile. You do have to be careful about how much to underdrive the alternator, as you can go into low voltage when idling at a light with the A/C and headlights on, for example, so that's soemthing you might want to disucss with the manufacturer, or maybe ask the people here. You'll get a better response if you post this type of question in the first main section of the message boards, "Aftermarket", and then in the sub-section labeled "Other Aftermarket" I think it's called. That is where most of the discussion regarding the use of aftermarket parts of all kinds is conducted. You'll get plenty of good responses there.

Good luck,

Underdrive pulleys are available from Auto Specialties, March, Steeda and Hypertech (sorry Mike)among others. Not sure who makes what for which version of the Triton, best to check around.

To all,
I bought the ASP underdrive pulley set and was very pleased with the results. I was going to buy the March pulleys but they ran into an interferance problem and quit offering them until they resolved the problem. The March pulleys were much cheaper but I was too impatient to wait. Maybe they have the problem resolved by now.
Later and God Bless!!

Chaplain(man of the cloth/asphalt), thanx for your input. ???-What is .999 tuned TPS, how many pullies did you replace, any problems with charging or accessories, and where did you find ASP performance pullies? As we drive through the valley of asphalt, we shall fear NO competition, for we are in our FORDS!!! Jimmy

Runnin99,
Nice rendition of the 23rd Psalm I'll use it next time I bury another bowtie. Do a search for the TPS (throttle positioning sensor)tune and you will get all the info you need to do this yourself. I bought the pulleys from Summit Racing, it is a 2 pulley set(steel). The only time I experienced a problem with charging was that the lights would dim slightly if I had airconditioning, lights on at idle but gauge showed normal charge. I am about to put a supercharger on so I will have mine for sale along with my Airaid very soon as I will not be able to use them with the SC. You can e-mail me at swharton@horizon.hit.net if you are interested.
Later and God Bless!!!

Auto Specialties number is 281 261 5811 or 281 261 8845. They have an inexpensive version that is a non-harmonic balancer sandwich type like March. If you are concerned about charging problems just get the crank pulley or crank and water pump pulleys.

Question

Does adding the pullies reduce A/C output?
Here in SC we need all we can get.

54regcab the only time you will notice any effect to your accesories will be at idle. Your A/C compressor output will not be noticebly effected at idle, but your blower and power windows will be slower. Once your above about 850 RPM which is about 99.5% of the time, you'll have full power.

I had a friend that put a set on his 5.0 Stang. He has had problems with alternators and voltage regulators ever since.

Just a word of caution.

Good luck with your decision!
