In order to get the best mpg's as I can, I would like to gather some info on how I could do better on my footwork. I hear that the engine is most efficient in max torque, or something like that. Here is what I know, I get better mpg's if I stick at 65 mph, rather than go to 75 mph. How about for semi-city driving (roads with 40-50 mph limits). Is there a sweet spot on the speed that gives the maximum fuel efficiency?

You allready have most of the answers, but also stay-away from stoplights and slowdowns. Slowing down, and then speeding up again cost you mpg's. In otherwords, this is why you get lower mpgs in the city. I think that anything under 70mph gets better mpg's. Try to keep the engine speed at the same rpm, Also, baby the throttle,and don't use the compressor for ac or defrost.

 

Every time you hit the brake it costs you gas $$$.
Sounds weird but all the energy dissapated by the brakes had to come from somewhere.
Coast as much as possible to a stop.

 

I don't know if it will matter which engine you have, which i guess it would, but in my 5.4, i do alright if i keep the RPMs about 2000 while taking off. You might not want to merge onto the expressway like that, but...
