2000 engine specs!!!
I just checked out the specs for 2000 and ford has boosted up the power on the 4.6!!!
4.6= 260 hp/350 lbs
5.4= 275 hp/410 lbs
with some simple mods, the 5.4 should easily hit 300 hp!!

Are you sure about those numbers beechkid. Every source I've seen has the 5.4 with the numbers you gave for the 4.6 and the 4.6 still at 220HP and 290 ft/lbs. Just wondering...

Welcome aboard!! Where did you get these figures from? I have heard "rumors" that the HP 5.4 for '00 was increased to 265 from 260, but 275HP and 410pt/pds of torque!!! thats incredible. I would have thought that Ford would have made a big thing about that much of an increase for 2000. Ford said nothing about HP increases for '00 in their literature/press releases for the 2000 model year.
My only concern would be that this much of a HP increase will be a "late availablility" thing that will only show up in mid to late year produced engines, in an effort to compete better with GM 5.3 OHV engines. This would really suck for those of us (myself included) that bought their '00 F150's early in the fall of 1999. (my engine was built in July of '99)
Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds more like someone got the index tabs jostled and the 5.4 should have read V10; the 4.6 should have read 5.4, etc..

No way on those figures for 2000! At best, the 5.4L is 265 h.p. (despite FORD still printing 260 as of 1/04/2000). The torque is 345/350 lb-ft. Even the new 2001 Supercrew 5.4L is rated at 260 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque (source: FORD booklet)
The 4.6L is still 220 h.p. and 290 lb-ft of torque.
This information is straight out of the brand new CHILTON's repair manual #26666 12/99 (All FORD advertisement has the same numbers.

I don't know the numbers or anything. But I did want to say people need to not worry about this one bit. When companies "claim" their engines produce such and such numbers, they are just blowing smoke in your face to make you want their product. The only numbers that matter are actual numbers produced by a 3rd party lab. For example I think it was motor trend tested the 99 Chevy, Ford, and Dodge. Chevy "claimed" 270hp, but delivered around 205. Ford "claimed" 260 and delivered around 230. And I completely forget Dodge.
But the point is, don't get engine envy over what different companies claim. Sure Chevy boasts 300hp for the 2000s, but I doubt they actually delivery. Just like I'm sure Ford doesn't live up to it's claim of 265hp for the 2000s.

Actually Freezer the reason for the numeric difference you see in manufacturer claims and these magazine tests is that the manufacturer number is at the flywheel and the magazine test is at the rear wheels. The horsepower loss is through the tranny/drivetrain.
You bring up a very good point though. The testing I've seen so far seems to indicate that Ford is doing a much better job of actually getting power to the ground. Sure Chevy has some very impressive HP numbers, but it doesn't matter if it never makes it to the back wheels...

Partially true Freezer. I have yet to see a dyno test that said the FORD F-150 delivered 260 h.p. (which I would bet will never happen with our 1997-2000 trucks)... so what you are saying is partially true. The engine is probably putting the rated power out...but much is lost before it hits the rear wheels.
A perfect example was in the February 1999 issue of Truck Trends, pg 28. "different dynos and dyno operators will offer different numbers". This seems to prove that not every Dyno is created equal. "Because of differences in the transmissions and torque converters as well as rear axle gearing, the numbers will not always reflect the manufacturer's power output. This particualer test was conducted on a Mustang Chassis Dyno.
If what you are saying is true..then EVERY manufacturer of every vehicle is not being truthful...a claim I can't believe.
The one thing that I have noticed in every Dyno test, report, or study is that the FORD 5.4L puts more power on the ground than anyone else....and that is ALL that counts. To some people..this fact IS very important.
