I own 3 F150'S. A 2014, 2005 & 1997. I put a donor motor in the 97 last year. She is ready for retirement. Here is my question. Can I take the 5.4 Triton from a 1997 F150 and put it in a 2005 F150 that also has a 5.4 Triton in it? The donor motor came from another 97 F150 and it has 120,000km the 05 has almost 300000km on the clock.

 

You probably could, but there would be programming and other electrical issues and the truck will be quite sluggish. The 05 has a 3 valve with variable cam timing, the 97 is a 2 valve non-PI with considerably less horsepower and torque.
