I'm getting the 3V replaced in my '04. I bought the engine from Eagle Engine Sales for $3200. It has a three year unlimited mile warranty. The warranty is good, but they only pay $60/hr which is below the local shop rate. Eagle says they do the rebuilds, but I believe it was built by AER out of Texas. AER also does the engines for Ford. Ford wholesale price was $4600 for what I believe is the same engine. Ford has a 3 year warranty, but the benefit is that the repairs are completed at a Ford dealer. One of my friends had an Eagle engine in his '05. It was very quiet and smooth, but the truck got totaled 4,000 miles after the engine was installed.

I could have bought it for $3,400. With a little effort, I could have probably got 1/2 the money back parting it out. It wasn't worth it to me. It's for auction at IAAI South Bend, IN. It's a public auction, so anyone can pay a few hundred and bid on it.
