Question Noise coming from engine

When I am driving at a constant speed and push the gas pedal quickly, there is a strange noise that occurs. It is hard to explain the noise. It is a high pitched screeching sound but is at a low decibel. When I am at a constant speed, I do not hear it. I only hear it when I hit the gas pedal and it stops as soon as I let off the gas or after a second or two after I have pressed the pedal. After hearing this, I pushed the pedal several times in a row and it makes the noise each time. Any suggestions?

belts?

The only squealing sound I can think of that is high pitched could be a belt slipping? That's the only thing I can think of.

I think I know the sound you are talking about. If so, I belive it is just the noise your gears/rear-end makes at low speeds. (Does it almost sounds like a high-pitched wind noise?)

Yes, it does sound like a high pitched wind noise, but it seems to sound like it is coming from the engine compartment. I could be wrong.

I think I know what your talking about, does it almost sound like a whistling rushing of air? I have the same noise and I also have a K&N fipk. Kind of like it's bleeding off the extra pressure. It didn't start this until about a year or so after I installed it. I have pulled the entire system off for cleaning, and when reassembled it's still there. I've grown to like it actually, sounds like a turbo diesel spooling up. The only other thing I can think of is a slipping belt, and when I had that trouble it was a very loud screech,,,,98

98SCREAMER,
That is exactly what I am hearing. I just could not think of the words to describe it. (bleeding off the extra pressure) I guess I need to do what you do and learn to like the sound. Because now that I know it is there, it seems that is all I can hear. Thanks for the replies.

Run a vaccum check on the engine or have your local dealer or mech. do it for you. I had the same noise and had it check out shortly after. It turned up a trouble code for a vaccum leak.

who knows, it's worth a try.
