Truck was on its side a few weeks ago
Hey everyone i have a couple questions my 98 f-150 was put on its side during an ice storm (wife was driving it
) and she said she shut it off right away so hopefully nothing went wrong with it. I changed the oil nothing seemed out of the norm with color or anything fixed all the damage seems to run fine now after a couple miles of major smoking cleared up and been fine ever since. but it seams like it is using alot more gas now and is a bit sluggish is there anything i should check out to make sure nothing else is wrong. checked fluids and all seem normal.

AS well as cleaning the MAF sensor. & maybe change the air filter and fuel filters?
It also might have dislodged a vacuum line when it was on it side, double check those and make sure nothing is damaged or loose. Does this have a plastic intake or alum?
worse case, there was more oil or coolant in the a cylinder or 2 then perceived and when you fired it back up you bent some valves. ( a compression check should reveal that, good time to it is when changing plugs) So begs the question how long was it up right before you fired it up?
Any Check engine light on?
What color was the exhaust... all white, or with a blueish tinge?

probably right that it would need new plugs and as for how long it was upright before it got fired up i think overnight the sheriff was pretty adamant that it was going to get towed because he didn't want to get calls all night on it
smoke was all white if remember right and it runs real smooth for the most part
no codes are being thrown and i think its the aluminum intake haven't looked that close

White exhaust in winter months is perfectly normal. But I think you know that unless you recently moved from the south. Does the exhaust smell sweet?
If you have an all alum intake, it would be less likely to crack or leak compared to the molded plastic. BUT they can still leak.
Continue to closely monitor the fluids to make sure they stay in designated areas and levels.
How hard did it roll? How hard did they set it back 4 wheels? Is it possible that a wheel bearing got tweaked or is out of Alignment? and making it "seem" under performing? Shucks maybe it bent a bit on the fuel pick up tube inside the fuel tank?? Or it shook a bunch of junk loose in the tank and now the fuel filter is plugged or the filter sock on the pick up tube is inside of the tank??
Did any gear oil in the differential leak out?

New plugs certainly couldn't hurt , especially if they have a fair amount of miles on them already anyway.

it just layed over on its side not full roll and I have no idea how hard it landed when the put her on all fours I didn't notice leaks other than power steering fluid out of the vent hole no other fluids leaked out not even transmission fluid even though the side that was down was the side the dipstick was on but i don't know I could be imagining it because I am being paranoid about the truck since it happened and I know mileage goes down in winter but I did get an alignment done on it and it drives straighter than it ever has 😂 Now
Odds are pretty good everything is fine. I usually run about 12-14 MPG in the winter depending on how much the 4x4 is engaged and idling/ warm up is done and I short trip a fair bit too.
