cobra99,

Yup, its gone. If the Expiditions still have them I might convert mine. So is the little pocket below and to the right of the steering wheel gone. The dome light no longer turns on when you lift the door handle. The captain's seat seems to be a tad higher too. All that in exchange for the overhead console with temp and semi-accurate compass.

Regards

My '99 had its first oil change today at the dealer (4.5 months and 2522 miles). I was also disappointed about not having the remote filter.

Thumbs down

Ford keeps on making changes and all we get in return is less. just like floor mats on XLT they are now optional. Not standard like the book says. Ford made a change due to the fact the supplier can't keep up with production.

Hell, the floor mats even suck... What is
going on at Ford? My mats wore out all the
way through in 28K miles. Now, even though
they suck, Ford stopped adding them as a
default? This bites... What is next, the
crappy tires...

You too can own a Ford F150, just bring your
own tires and then you may drive it off the
lot...

Wake up Ford!

The tires are already crappy. I have the original Goodyear 255/70/16s and wet traction is awful. I can spin circles with no effort and don't want to.

can you add your own remote filter?

Actually I wish mine was on the engine, because I want to add the by-pass filter and the dual remote would be the easyist to install since you use your stock filter hole for the hook-ups. Since a have the remote filter I have to find a new way to hook up my by-pass!

Guys,

Would you explain to me what is meant by a "remote" oil filter? Since I have a 4x2 my filter is right next to the drain plug and the easilest oil change vehicle I have ever had.

I can't keep up with Ford's placement of the oil filter and a couple here have nearly the same vehicle I have. My is a very early '99 4.6l however.......

I realize the 4x4 filter placement is much different than the 4x2s.
