2006 5.4 triton 3v timing kit replacement P0018

I was throwing code P0018 so I purchased a timing kit. Removed covers and timing gears and chains. figured I replace oil pump while I'm in there. I could not remember where the two screws went into the oil pump so I researched online.

I watched a video where they were using vice grips to hold the cam shafts while doing the replacement. I did not do that. I have not moved the cams, but curious as to why?

I have been very careful not to move the cams, what problem would I have? how to make sure the camshafts are in the right spot before I put the phasers back on?

The phasers only go on one way. the crankshaft sprocket only goes on one way. if the marks on the timing chains are all lined up with the phasers and crankshaft spocket, what difference would it make if the camshaft was moved?
