2002 5.4 Plug Blowout

I have a 2002 Supercrew w/ the 5.4 and I just had my #6 plug blow out.

After doing some research, it seems like the only reliable way to repair this is with the time-sert kit and it looks like I need the 5553 kit. If anyone has any other suggestion that they're willing to share, please do.

Otherwise, I'm looking for a source for the kit - either a rental or used. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for your help!

Have you had the plugs changed by a Ford dealer ? If so,there is a reimbursement program. Check out the Ford website for information.

You're confused about the subject of this thread, spark plug blowouts. Ford does not have any such program for this specific issue. You're likely confusing it with the 3V two-piece spark plug class action settlement.

Yes, this is the only real way to deal with it. I was lucky when mine blew out, I was able to thread it back in and able to limp home before putting in the heli-coil (I know it wasn't the actual Heli-coil kit, just use it as a general term).
