Quick question on boosting horse power
I was kinda thinking that I have straight pipes with flow master tips but would that be my only option? Or just more efficient and more punch per dollar?
Well tbh I'm pretty sure my engine is newer because when we bought it the old engine was blown I could be wrong. But if it is the old motor could I put different heads on or not?
Ther isnt anything cost effective you can do. The only thing that gives real power is turbo or supercharging. Custom tune mught net you 15 hp. Headers another 15. Gears help get the power you have to the ground better. All this costs money and the truck is nearly 20 years old.

Sometime on E-bay superchargers come up for sale. If you got one you better build the engine to handle it and you better build the transmission to because shortly after useing the supercharger the trans is going to fail.. Money money money..
thanks my dad's q mechanic for a coalmine he should be able to help me with all of that but thanks for all the input I don't know all that I really want to know about engines. My dad doesn't have all the time to teach me so I just ask around. Thanks alot though. I picked up some really good information here.
Best bang for your bucks is a used tuner like the Superchips if the engine is stock. Nobody believes me but my 02 5.4 picked up about 20hp and improved the fuel mileage too. I see them for sale for $100 used. I picked mine up used from a site member for a little more. He had bought it new and traded trucks before using it. If you do future mods you may want a custom tuner.
I found a used procharger kit for my 2000 5.4. it added a nice bump in power. If I remember correctly, I only paid $1500 for it and it was complete. To me it was the biggest bang for the buck.
