Should Crankshaft Position Sensor be an engine warranty issue?

I purchased the Platinum warranty, originally, to hopefully cover problems like this. I can work on structural issues and do the general maintenance stuff, but when it gets into the trans and engine I am in way too deep.

The check engine light has been on for probably two years, now. It has referred to the position of both the crankshaft and camshaft sensors.
I replaced both, erased the codes, and the codes came right back.

The truck now has 170k miles and I have taken this issue to the dealer a number of times back to even before it clicked over 100k. I expected from the start that a check engine light issue would be something covered by the lifetime engine warranty.

The only alteration I have made under the hood is to replace the air intake with a larger K&M one to increase the gas mileage.
