Question burnt smelling coolant

has anyone had a problem with a burnt coolant smell when you sit idleing. This is on my 99 150sc 4.6. There is no sign of leaks anywhere,no over flow from the tube, not any signs of problems just this smell when idle.

I bought a used 97 F-150 with the 5.4 and noticed the same thing you are talking about (the smell of coolant without a leak). I tried to find the problem but never could. Eventually one day when I was driving down the hiway my truck started missing... I took it in to the dealer and after looking at it, they told me that there was a coolant leak that was dripping on the #4 cylinder 'coil-over-plug' which eventually shorted out.

While your 4.6 doesn't have the coil-over-plug configuration, you might be experiencing the same leaky hose. Check the coolant hoses that run near the passenger side cylinder nearest the firewall. Mine ended up costing me ~$250 to replace the coil/wire and the hose clamps (can you believe that?)...
