Oil Pan Magnetic Heater
I just looked at some of the magnetic oil pan heaters at Autozone and was wondering if any of you out there have used these or other heating devices. It is a magnetic heater that is abour 4"x4" and has 300 watts of 120 electric usage.
Is the oil pan metal on the 5.4L?
Will it heat enough at freezing to 0 deg. F.?
Will it heat the oil TOO much (using synthetic oil)??

Redone, I have seen those before, I use a silicone heat pad rated at 75 watts. The 300 watt will work but it will use alot of electricity compared to a heat pad. Heat pads also come rated at 150 watts. I keep mine plugged in all day at work and three hours before I leave home in the morning. It will warm the oil at 0 deg F without a problem. My truck has a 4.6 and the oil pan is sheet steel. The heat pad keeps the oil warm to the touch at the pan.
